Hyderabad: According to persons familiar with the situation, the Andhra Pradesh government has canceled the state waqf board's April 3 announcement seeking ideas for the commercial leasing of Waqf land throughout the state, which was made public on Thursday. According to a top minority welfare department official, chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu gave the order to revoke the waqf board's announcement on Wednesday night.
According to the official, the waqf board requested "expressions of interest" from people and organizations on April 3 for the development of waqf land between 1 and 200 acres for commercial uses, such as the construction of multiplexes, shopping centers, commercial buildings, and gas stations.
Sheikh Abdul Aziz, the chairman of the Andhra Pradesh Waqf Board, stated that the notification's sole purpose was to ask private parties to submit ideas for land development in order to raise money for the community.
