‘Victim herself invited trouble’: Allahabad high court grants bail to rape accused

Another justice of the court granted bail to a rape suspect, stating that the victim 'herself invited trouble and was responsible for the alleged act of rape,' weeks after a judge in the Allahabad high court drew criticism for stating that grabbing a woman's breasts or breaking the string of her pyjamas does not amount to rape or attempt to commit rape.
The accused allegedly repeatedly convinced her to accompany him to his home while she was at the pub. She consented to accompany him and take a nap because she did require assistance because of her drunken condition.
She further claimed that during their trip, the accused grabbed her improperly and led her to his relative's apartment in Gurgaon rather than his own home in Noida. She was allegedly raped twice there by the accused. As an MA student, the victim was also deemed competent by the HC bench to understand the "morality and significance of her act" as she revealed it in the FIR.
