Yamunanagar: On Monday, the Prime Minister met with Kaithal resident Rampal Kashyap, who had made a commitment 14 years prior to forgoing shoes until Narendra Modi assumed the position of prime minister. He was forced to wear shoes by the prime minister. PM Modi advised him not to repeat the commitment during the brief exchange.
"Since kahbhi nahi, aaj hum tumko joota pehna rahe hai par baad mai aaisa kuch karna nhi." Please don't do it again, even though I'm forcing you to wear shoes. PM Modi remarked, "You should work. Why have you done this? You are hurting yourself." When Rampal Kashyap met the Prime Minister, he was happy.
In a post on X, PM Modi also mentioned meeting Kashyap and stated that although he welcomes such affection, the emphasis should be on issues related to nation-building and social service. I had the opportunity to meet Shri Rampal Kashyap Ji from Kaithal during the public gathering in Yamunanagar today. Fourteen years ago, he made a commitment to only wear shoes once I became PM and he had the opportunity to meet me. People like Rampal Ji humble me and I embrace their love, but I would like to ask everyone who makes such a commitment: I treasure your love.
