Following his Thursday conversation with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Trump made the assertion. Each voiced confidence that a deal could be reached before the 90-day tariff truce expires, according to a report by news agency Reuters.
Following discussions with Meloni, a key conservative supporter, Trump reportedly told reporters at the Oval Office, "Of course, there will be a trade deal, very much." They really want to make one. In addition to larger tariffs on nearly all other items, the 27-nation European Union is subject to 25% import duties on steel, aluminum, and automobiles.
