According to the Associated Press, over 1,000 international students have had their visas revoked or their legal status terminated by the Trump administration in recent weeks, putting them at risk of imprisonment and deportation. In less than a month, at least 1,024 students from 160 institutions and universities have had their legal status or visas canceled.

A number of students have also sued the Department of Homeland Security, alleging that they were not given due process and that the agency had sufficient grounds to deny them entry into the country. Donald Trump's crackdown on immigration and student activism has affected all campuses, from public ones like Ohio State University and the University of Maryland to private ones like Harvard and Stanford.

The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) announced earlier this week that nine of its foreign researchers and students had their visas and immigration statuses abruptly revoked. Additionally, if institutions do not follow their orders to curb student activism, the Trump administration has threatened to stop their financing.
