India denounced on Saturday the murder of Bhabesh Chandra Roy, a well-known Hindu community leader, in Bangladesh. We are deeply troubled by the kidnapping and ruthless murder of Bangladeshi Hindu minority leader Shri Bhabesh Chandra Roy. While the perpetrators of past such incidents continue to operate with impunity, this killing is part of a pattern of systemic persecution of Hindu minority under the interim government, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal wrote on X.

The MEA spokesperson went on to say, "We denounce this incident and remind the interim government once more to fulfill its obligation to protect all minorities, including Hindus, without creating justifications or drawing distinctions."

According to local media sources cited by PTI, 58-year-old Hindu community leader Bhabesh Chandra Roy was kidnapped from his home and brutally murdered in the Dinajpur region of north Bangladesh. According to The Daily Star, which cited family members and police, Roy's body was found on Thursday night. According to his wife Shantana, he got a call at approximately 4:30 p.m., and she asserted that the call was placed by the criminals to make sure he was home.
