Fadnavis lashes out at Rahul Gandhi over EC remark: ‘Raised question mark on his character’

Devendra Fadnavis, the chief minister of Maharashtra, accused Rahul Gandhi on Monday of ruining India's democratic image on international forums after the Congress leader claimed at an event in Boston that the Election Commission was "compromised". "It is really regrettable that Rahul Gandhi goes overseas and publishes misinformation about the institutions established by this country's constitution, attempting to tarnish them.
He attempts to highlight questions about democracy. "I believe he is engaging in such behavior as a result of the consequences of repeatedly losing elections," he stated. "The manner Rahul Gandhi is behaving calls his character into question. Instead of doing such things, if he goes out into the community and regains the people's faith, he will be able to win the election. "He cannot win elections by defaming anyone," he said.
Rahul Gandhi, speaking to the Indian diaspora in Boston, claimed, "It's very clear to us that the Election Commission is compromised, and there is something very wrong with the system." He also used the Maharashtra assembly elections as an example of the ECI's alleged misconduct, claiming, "More people voted in Maharashtra than the total number of people, and this is a fact." The Election Commission provided us with a figure at 5:30 p.m., and in two hours, around 7:30 p.m., 65 lakh voters voted, which is physically impossible."
