The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) stated on Monday that restoring traffic on the Jammu-Srinagar route will take six days, despite efforts in Ramban, which was damaged by landslides and flashfloods following heavy rain on Sunday. Around 300 vehicles are stalled in various locations throughout the rain-soaked area, where three people, including two minor brothers, perished and 350 were evacuated to safety on Sunday.

Purshottam Kumar Sharma, NHAI project director, stated, "Based on the condition of the damaged road and the volume of debris accumulated as a result of the landslides, it may take us six days to make the affected stretch suitable for partial traffic restoration."

He described the situation as difficult due to the enormous accumulation of debris on the roadway in over a dozen locations, particularly the 4km section between Seri and Marog. "Restoration work is underway, but it also depends on fair weather," he said, adding that the sludge was more than 20 feet high in some regions.
