MHA directs Delhi Police to downgrade Atishi's security cover category | Here's what will change

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) asked the Delhi Police on Tuesday to reduce former Chief Minister and AAP leader Atishi's security cover from "Z" to "Y". The notification comes after Delhi police's security unit requested advise from the ministry on Atishi's security cover status. The force has sought similar advise on AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal's security protection.
Central agencies conducted an assessment of Atishi's danger perceptions and found that there was "no fresh or significant threat" that justified the maintenance of "Z" category security cover, according to an official. "Though the ministry initially advised against making any changes to the security arrangements in place for both Kejriwal and Atishi, it later instructed Delhi Police to scale down Atishi's cover to 'Y' category," according to the official.
After being downgraded to the "Y" security category, Atishi will now be safeguarded by a squad of about 12 people, including two Delhi Police commandos. She will also lose several perks, such as the pilot car that accompanied her convoy.
