During his high-profile visit to India on Tuesday, US Vice President JD Vance praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a "tough negotiator," claiming that his firmness is what earned him respect in Washington. His remarks come amid accelerated attempts to finalize a bilateral trade agreement that has the potential to transform the two countries' economic partnership.

"Modi is a difficult negotiator, which is why we admire him. "He stands firm for India's interests — and we appreciate that," JD Vance added, expressing admiration and a desire for compromise as negotiations progress. JD Vance was addressing a crowd in Rajasthan's Jaipur.

Vance stated that President Donald Trump wants both the United States and India to prosper, and that the two countries can collaborate in a variety of industries, including trade, defense, and energy, to create a win-win cooperation. Vance, who is on a primarily personal four-day visit to India, spoke the day after meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi.
