Pahalgam terror attack live: J&K CM Omar Abdullah calls all-party meeting on Thursday

Live updates on the Pahalgam terror assault. Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in New Delhi on Wednesday morning, having cut short his vacation to Saudi Arabia owing to a terrorist assault in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir. He spoke briefly with NSA Ajit Doval, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, and Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri at the airport.

At least 26 tourists were slain when unidentified gunmen opened fire on innocent bystanders in Pahalgam's Baisaran, Jammu and Kashmir. After hearing gunshots in the neighborhood, security forces hurried to the scene. According to authorities, initial reports suggested a possible terror strike at a tourist hotspot. Security troops have been dispatched to the location, and an operation is presently ongoing, according to PTI.

The incident occurred about 3 p.m., when terrorists descended from the mountain in Baisaran valley and began firing at visitors who frequent the area, which is known as'mini Switzerland' because to its long, lush green meadows. Authorities dispatched a helicopter to evacuate the injured, according to officials, who added that some of the injured were taken down from the meadows by locals riding ponies.
