Protein is a crucial component of the body, and those who engage in strength training and strenuous fitness programs should increase their protein consumption. But do women in fitness require the same amount of protein as men? In an interview with HT Lifestyle, Shikha Singh, nutritionist and fitness expert of Shiksfitness, debunked various protein-related fallacies.

This is a widespread myth. Protein supplements are beneficial for anyone, male or female, who cannot obtain their daily protein requirements from food alone. The overall recommendation is around 1 gram of protein per kilogram of body weight. Thus, an individual weighing 60 kilograms should consume around 60 grams of protein each day. Taking protein supplements can improve muscle regeneration, metabolism, endocrine balance, and general energy levels, regardless of gender.

Protein supplements are safe for healthy people with no history of renal problems as long as they are ingested in the proper proportions and purchased from legitimate, high-quality companies. Moderation and the source are important.
