'Utter nonsense’: Deepinder Goyal hits back at Reddit post alleging Zomato staff banned from using Swiggy, Zepto

Deepinder Goyal, CEO of Zomato, posted on X to refute charges made in a Reddit thread about his company losing market share and plunging into absolute anarchy. The investor further claimed that employees at his company were pushed to order from Zomato and prohibited from utilizing alternative platforms such as Swiggy and Zepto. He dismissed the rumors, calling them "utter nonsense."

"All of this…is utter nonsense," Goyal said, sharing a link to a Reddit post shared on the subreddit StartUpIndia. "I am sharing this anonymously for obvious reasons. Things at Zomato appear to be off the tracks," the Reddit user wrote, adding, "In a recent internal huddle, leadership revealed we're losing a significant portion of our market share to Zepto Cafe and Swiggy. What was their reaction? Panic and ludicrous new regulations.

One of them requires employees to order from Zomato at least seven times per month, and sure, they will track it. Ordering from competitors is strictly prohibited in the office." It also says that Zomato's pay structure for delivery partners is inadequate, and restaurant partners are dissatisfied with the company's regulations.
