Delhi, New Delhi: As he moved that the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2025, as reported by the joint parliamentary committee (JPC), be considered in the Lok Sabha, Kiren Rijiju, the union minister for minority affairs and parliamentary affairs, declared on Wednesday that no land would be taken under the Waqf Bill.

According to Rijiju, the Joint Parliamentary Committee's (JPC) debate of the Waqf Amendment Bill was unlike any other in the Indian Parliament's history. It is the first time in India's parliamentary history that the Joint Committee of both Houses has held a discussion on the Waqf Amendment Bill. "I express my gratitude and congrats to every member of the Joint Committee," Rijiju stated.

According to him, 284 delegates from 25 states and union territories, representing different communities and Waqf boards, were heard by the committee. He went on to say that "no land will be taken under the Waqf Bill," emphasizing that "these are just baseless rumors" and that the bill would not impact Muslims' rights.
