Live updates on the Pahalgam terror assault: Tensions between India and Pakistan have risen as Islamabad has once again breached the truce. Pakistani forces launched unprovoked small-arms fire across the Line of Control in locations adjoining Kupwara and Baramulla, as well as Akhnoor, during the night of April 28 and 29. The Indian Army responded in a'measured and effective' manner.

The Jammu and Kashmir Assembly held a special session on Monday to discuss the April 22 terror incident in Baisaran, near Pahalgam. According to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, people's solidarity would assist battle terrorism. He did, however, express concern that the government's actions would alienate the people of the union territory. "Militancy and terrorism will end when people join us. Given the public's fury at the atrocity, this is the beginning of its end if we take the necessary steps," he said.

Surinder Choudhary, Abdullah's deputy in the J&K legislature, moved a resolution describing the Pahalgam attack as an assault on the "Kashmiriyat" culture. Meanwhile, a tourist's ziplining video from the day of the incident went popular on social media, with the zipline operator yelling 'Allahu Akbar' three times. Rishi Bhatt claimed that the operator did not chant while his wife, son, and four others crossed. "But when I was on the zipline, he said it (Allahu Akbar) thrice, and then the firing started," Bhatt told me.
