More than 200 Indian passengers were left stuck for more than 16 hours after a Virgin Atlantic flight from London to Mumbai made an emergency landing at Diyarbakir Airport (DIY) in Turkey, according to News18 on Thursday. A medical problem caused the plane, VS 358, to land at an airport that was not equipped to handle the aircraft. According to the report, passengers were also informed that the aircraft experienced a technical issue during landing.
One passenger experienced a panic attack, thus an emergency landing was performed. According to a passenger cited in the story, "The Turkish airport is not efficient enough to handle the aircraft." Many passengers were still unsure of their future plans because Virgin Atlantic had not made any announcements regarding other plans to resume their flight.
We have been left without connectivity at a terminal building that is just partially occupied. Other than two handouts that were distributed yesterday evening, we don't have any information, and we have ladies, small children, and a few sick folks. We've been on the ground for over 14 hours," an other traveler informed Republic.
