Mamata Banerjee, the chief minister of West Bengal, was blasted by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday, accusing her of rampant corruption in the state's school recruiting process and threatening to put her in jail. Speaking at a news conference, BJP leader Sambit Patra promised that Mamata Banerjee will be held responsible if the BJP were to take control of the state and declared that the rule of law would prevail.

"Albat Jayengi, didi prison Jayengi. Shasan hai, Hindustan mai kanoon ka. (Didi will undoubtedly end up in jail). In India, the rule of law is in place. Mamata Banerjee would face the full weight of the law the moment the BJP takes power in Bengal, according to Sambit Patra, who was reported by news agency ANI.

The BJP leader's remarks were made the day after the Supreme Court affirmed the Calcutta High Court's ruling to halt the hiring of over 25,000 teachers and non-teaching employees due to significant flaws in the hiring procedure.
