CLAT UG-2025: SC agrees to hear plea challenging Delhi HC verdict

By : Sandhya
Delhi, A challenge against the Delhi High Court's decision ordering the Consortium of National Law Universities to amend the mark sheets and republish the final list of chosen candidates for CLAT UG-2025 within four weeks was accepted by the Supreme Court on Wednesday. Notices were sent to the consortium and other parties involved in the plea by a bench consisting of Justices B R Gavai and Augustine George Masih, requesting responses within a week.
The bench stated that the case would be reheard in a week. The results of the Common Law Admission Test, 2025, which was administered on December 1 of last year for admission to five-year LLB programs at national law universities, were released on December 7. Numerous pleas claiming that various exam questions were incorrect were submitted to various high courts.
Admission to undergraduate and graduate legal programs at the nation's national law school is decided by CLAT. A split bench of the high court rejected some of the candidates' concerns while accepting others in its ruling dated April 23. "We direct the respondent/consortium to revise the mark sheet and to republish/renotify the final list of selected candidates within four weeks from the date," the court stated. It made it clear that each appellant, petitioner, and candidate who may have tried certain questions under the court's attention should have their evaluation applied by the consortium.
