"Victory Of Crores of People": Congress On Center Announces Caste Census

By : Sandhya
Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh called the Centre's decision to conduct a caste census "a victory for the crores of people of India" in New Delhi. He went on to say that when Rahul Gandhi stated that the caste census is the "X-ray of society," the BJP "ridiculed him." "When our leader Shri Rahul Gandhi ji said, 'Caste census is the X-ray of society,' Then the people in the ruling party ridiculed him, ignored him and procrastinated," Ramesh wrote on the Hindi-language website X.
According to Ramesh, Rahul Gandhi has long advocated for a caste census, pressing the matter in Parliament and at public meetings. "But how long can crores of people's rights be suppressed? Now, the Modi government has agreed to conduct a caste census. "Better late than never," the Congress general secretary stated. "This is a critical step toward achieving social fairness.
This is a win for crores of Indians. "This is a victory for everyone who has fought for equality, parity, and representation for years," he said. On Wednesday, while updating the media on the Union Cabinet's choices, Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw remarked that while some states have done caste surveys, organizing a census is the responsibility of the central government.
