IMD predicts more showers and thunderstorms today as rain batters portions of Delhi | Weather updates

On Saturday morning, several areas of Delhi had light rain, providing people with a brief reprieve from the heat. The national capital is expected to get light to moderate rainfall throughout the day, along with thunderstorms and lightning, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The national capital received 0.8 mm of rain over the course of the last 24 hours, from 8:30 am on Friday to 8:30 am on Saturday, according to the weather office.

With a minimum temperature of 22.2 degrees Celsius, 2.5 degrees below the season's average, Saturday got off to a chilly start. At 8:30 am, the relative humidity was 82%, suggesting that the weekend will begin wet. According to the IMD, there will be thunderstorms and rain throughout the day, with a high of about 34 degrees Celsius. One of the wettest May days in Delhi's history occurred on Friday.

The Safdarjung weather station reported 77 mm of rain in just six hours, from 2.30 am to 8.30 am, according to the India Meteorological Department. Since records have been kept since 1901, the spell was the second-highest 24-hour rainfall in May in Delhi.
