Maoist leader dies in clash in Gariaband district, Chhattisgarh

Raipur: According to police on Saturday, a Maoist commander was slain during a confrontation with security forces in the Gariaband district of Chhattisgarh. The Maoist who passed away was identified as divisional committee member Yogesh Kosra, also known as Ayatu. A prominent Maoist leader named Manoj had him as his commander, according to an officer. A search is still going on in the vicinity, and the police have found an automatic weapon.
"The gunfight happened inside a forest under the Jugad police station on Friday night. Amresh Mishra, inspector general of police for the Raipur range, stated that the Maoists opened fire on a joint team of security personnel who were engaged in an anti-Naxalite operation.
He stated that a Maoist's body and a gun were found at the scene after the gunfire stopped. Since the most recent incident, 145 Maoists had been shot dead in various clashes throughout the state this year. In the Bastar division, which includes seven districts including Narayanpur and Kondagaon, 123 of them were eliminated.
