A stampede at the Lairai Devi temple in Shirgao village, Goa, killed at least six people and injured 30 on Saturday morning. According to PTI, devotees from Goa, Maharashtra, and Karnataka converged for the yearly celebration. According to reports, a senior police officer will identify the actual cause of the occurrence after conducting an inquiry.

Vishwajit Rane, the state's health minister, stated that at least 30 persons were hurt, including eight in severe condition. Two of the injured have been referred to the Goa Medical College and Hospital in Bambolim. Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant expressed deep sadness over the Lairai Zatra tragedy in Shirgaon and pledged his support to the afflicted families.

"We are deeply disturbed by the deadly stampede at the Lairai Zatra in Shirgaon this morning. I went to the hospital to meet the injured and promised to help the affected families in any way I could. I am personally monitoring the situation to guarantee that all essential measures are implemented. Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji spoke with me and assessed the issue in detail, providing his complete assistance during this difficult time," Sawant wrote in a post on X.
