Residents of Punjab's border district of Amritsar were terrified when they heard explosions and saw lights flashing in the sky at around 1am on Thursday, followed by a power outage. This was amid tensions between India and Pakistan after targeted strikes on terror camps and Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. In the morning, debris from what looked to be missiles was found in fields on the outskirts of the city at Jethuwal, Makhan Windi, and Pandher.

There was widespread panic. Following the explosion, fragments of the missile were discovered strewn across homes and in a field in Jethuwal. Villagers alerted the police, who showed up and removed the debris," claimed Parkash Singh, a villager. The police were notified when a piece of a missile was spotted at Makhan Windi, which is close to Jethuwal hamlet. Army soldiers arrived at the location as well.

The tremendous explosions between 1 and 2 in the morning shocked the homeowners, and when they went outside to investigate, they noticed "illuminated objects" in the sky. The sound of the explosion startled me awake. Advocate Jaswinder Singh stated that additional family members and relatives in the city soon began phoning because they had also heard the explosion.
