Lucknow: Cop Shoots Robber in Leg After Chase in Half Encounter

In a major breakthrough in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, police arrested two criminals involved in multiple purse-snatching incidents targeting women in the Trans-Gomti area. The encounter took place under the bridge near Janeshwar Mishra Park in the Gomti Nagar police station jurisdiction.

The accused, identified as Monu Rajput and Mahesh Rawat, tried to flee but were cornered by the police. During the confrontation, both were shot in the legs and were immediately taken to the hospital for treatment.

Police recovered a motorbike, a pistol, and various looted items from their possession. Authorities confirmed that both suspects were wanted in several theft and snatching cases and had been on the run for a while.
