Rush at UIDAI Office in Gomti Nagar Ahead of Free Aadhaar Update Deadline
With the June 14 deadline for free Aadhaar updates approaching, the UIDAI regional office in Gomti Nagar, Lucknow, is witnessing a surge in visitors. Hundreds are arriving daily to update their details before charges are applied post-deadline.
To manage the increasing crowd, authorities have deployed additional staff and are urging citizens to bring all required documents to avoid delays.
Prashant Kumar Singh, Deputy Director General of UIDAI (Lucknow Region), stated that after June 14, updates at Aadhaar centres will cost ₹50, while online changes will cost ₹25. Address proof updates will remain free. However, demographic updates like name, gender, or date of birth will require valid documents and must be done at the centre.
Biometric updates (fingerprints, iris scan) and demographic changes will cost ₹50 each. If both are updated together, the total fee will be ₹100.
