"Sanjay Verma Was the Killer": Honeymoon Murder Case Solved

By : Sandhya
In a chilling twist to the Meghalaya honeymoon murder case, police have revealed that Sonam Raghuvanshi was in constant contact with a man named "Sanjay Verma" — who has now been confirmed to be Raj Kushwaha, her lover and the alleged mastermind behind her husband Raja Raghuvanshi's murder.
According to call detail records, Sonam and Raj — saved in her phone as "Sanjay Verma" to avoid suspicion — exchanged 234 calls over just 39 days, between March 1 and April 8. Their conversations often lasted between 30 minutes to an hour. These records reveal the depth of their communication before and after Sonam’s marriage to Raja.
The couple had tied the knot on May 11 in Indore. However, even as she entered married life, Sonam reportedly continued her affair with Raj, who worked as an accountant at her family’s furniture unit, which she also managed.
The murder plot began to unravel after the couple was reported missing during their honeymoon in Meghalaya. What first appeared to be a missing persons case took a sinister turn when Raja’s body was found and evidence of a premeditated murder emerged.
Police say Sonam had hired three contract killers to murder Raja and stage a disappearance. Investigations revealed that Raj Kushwaha had been actively involved in planning the crime. On June 8, the day police arrested all the accused and Sonam surrendered, Raj’s phone was last seen active on WhatsApp.
Sonam’s brother, Govind, has denied knowing anyone named Sanjay Verma and expressed shock at learning of his involvement in the case.
The horrifying crime, rooted in betrayal and manipulation, has left the families and community in disbelief.
