Mumbai, June 20 – Heavy rainfall wreaked havoc during peak evening hours at Mumbai’s Borivali railway station, leading to overcrowding, delays, and commuter distress on Thursday.

The downpour began around 5 PM, just as thousands of office-goers were heading home. With platforms packed and local trains running behind schedule, the situation quickly escalated into chaos. Passengers were seen struggling to navigate flooded platforms, with many taking shelter under limited covered spaces.

Social media was flooded with images and videos of commuters wading through waterlogged areas of the station, holding umbrellas and bags above their heads. Some users even compared the situation to annual monsoon mismanagement, calling for better infrastructure and drainage systems at major city hubs like Borivali.

Railway officials stated that services on the Western Line were delayed by up to 20 minutes due to waterlogging on tracks near Dahisar and Kandivali, adding to the disruption. Additional personnel were deployed at Borivali to manage the crowd and guide passengers.

Despite the inconvenience, there were no reports of injuries or accidents. Authorities have advised commuters to check real-time train updates and exercise caution during travel as more rain is forecasted in the coming days.
