A viral video from a weekend trek to Harihar Fort, one of India’s most dangerous hiking spots, has sparked serious concerns on social media. The clip shows an alarming crowd climbing the steep, narrow rock-cut stairs of the fort, a trek that becomes even riskier during the monsoon.

In the video, hundreds of trekkers are seen packed tightly on the vertical path, with some dangerously clinging to the side — just inches from a fatal fall.

Shared by an X user named Woke Eminent, the video came with a grave warning:

“Another major incident waiting to happen? Harihar Fort weekend crowd surge is a death trap! This needs to be stopped or moderated. One small stampede or someone losing balance could trigger a chain reaction — hundreds could fall to their deaths.”

Others on social media questioned the authorities’ inaction. One user wrote:

“The Forest Department in Nashik controls the fort and charges a fee. They had a 300-visitors-per-day limit, but it wasn’t enforced. After the viral video, they've reportedly restricted tourist entry — but what action has been taken against officials who failed to act?”

The situation has prompted calls for stricter regulation and immediate safety measures to prevent a potential tragedy.
