**Adani Power Completes INR 4,000 Crore Acquisition of Vidarbha Industries Power Ltd.**
Adani Power Ltd. (APL), India’s largest private thermal power producer, has completed the acquisition and implementation of the resolution plan for Vidarbha Industries Power Ltd. (VIPL) for a total consideration of ₹4,000 crore.
Located in Butibori, Nagpur district, Maharashtra, VIPL operates a 2×300 MW domestic coal-based power plant. The company was undergoing Corporate Insolvency Resolution Process (CIRP) under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC), and APL’s resolution plan received approval from the National Company Law Tribunal’s (NCLT) Mumbai bench on June 18, 2025. The transaction was formally concluded on July 7, 2025.
With the addition of VIPL, Adani Power’s total operating capacity now stands at 18,150 MW. APL continues to expand its base-load power generation capacity through both brownfield and greenfield projects. It is currently constructing six 1,600 MW ultra-supercritical thermal power projects at its existing facilities in Singrauli-Mahan (Madhya Pradesh), Raipur, Raigarh, and Korba (Chhattisgarh), and Kawai (Rajasthan), along with a new 1,600 MW greenfield project in Mirzapur, Uttar Pradesh.
Additionally, APL is reviving construction of a 1,320 MW supercritical power plant in Korba, previously acquired. These projects are expected to raise APL’s operational capacity to 30,670 MW by 2030, further strengthening its position as India’s largest private base-load power generation company.
“This acquisition marks a significant step in our strategy to unlock value through the turnaround of stressed assets,” said SB Khyalia, CEO of Adani Power Ltd. “We remain committed to supporting the national goal of ‘Electricity for All’ by ensuring the delivery of reliable, affordable base-load power that drives sustainable growth.”
