Trump Claims He Threatened to Bomb Moscow and Beijing in Viral Audio

Former US President Donald Trump is at the center of fresh controversy after an audio clip—now going viral—captures him allegedly claiming he threatened to bomb Russia’s Moscow and China’s Beijing during his presidency.

The clip, shared by CNN, features Trump recounting supposed conversations with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping.

“With Putin, I said, ‘If you go into Ukraine, I’m gonna bomb the sh*t out of Moscow. I’m telling you, I have no choice.’ He said ‘no way,’ I said ‘way!’” Trump can be heard saying.

In the same recording, he claims to have made a similar threat to Xi Jinping over Taiwan. “I said, ‘If you go into Taiwan, I’m gonna bomb the sh*t out of Beijing.’ He said I was crazy.”

Trump goes on to say that both leaders were “shocked” by the threats and that they believed him “10 percent”—which, he added, “is all you need. In fact, 5 percent would have been OK too.”

The audio was reportedly recorded during closed-door fundraisers in New York and Florida in 2024 and was obtained by journalists Josh Dawsey, Tyler Pager, and Isaac Arnsdorf, authors of the book 2024: How Trump Retook the White House and the Democrats Lost America.

The revelations come amid Trump’s increasing criticism of Vladimir Putin over the Ukraine war. “He’s killing too many people so we’re sending some defensive weapons to Ukraine, and I’ve approved it,” Trump reportedly said recently, defending his support for President Zelenskyy.

The claims also echo Trump’s repeated boasts of having de-escalated conflicts around the world, including between India and Pakistan, and in the Congo-Rwanda region.
