Apple Appoints Sabih Khan as New COO, Succeeding Jeff Williams

Apple has announced the appointment of Sabih Khan as its new Chief Operating Officer (COO), marking a significant leadership transition at the tech giant. The company confirmed the change on Tuesday, stating that Khan will officially assume the role later this month.

Khan, a veteran Apple executive with nearly three decades at the company, will take over from Jeff Williams, who has served as COO since 2015 and is set to retire later this year. Khan currently holds the position of Senior Vice President of Operations, where he has been instrumental in managing Apple’s vast global supply chain and ensuring timely production and delivery of its products.

Before joining Apple in 1995, Khan worked at GE Plastics as an applications development engineer and later as a key account technical leader. His extensive experience in engineering and supply chain operations has made him a key figure in Apple’s global strategy, especially as the company navigates growth across international markets and increasingly complex logistics.

Apple described the leadership change as part of a long-planned succession strategy, with a seamless transition expected due to Khan’s deep familiarity with the company’s operations and internal culture.

Until his retirement, Jeff Williams will continue to report to CEO Tim Cook and remain in charge of Apple’s design team and the Apple Watch division. Following his departure, the design team will report directly to Cook.

Khan holds bachelor’s degrees in Economics and Mechanical Engineering from Tufts University, and a master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI).
