Kapil Sharma’s Canada Café Issues Statement After Shooting: ‘In Shock, Not Giving Up’

Actor-comedian Kapil Sharma’s newly launched café in Surrey, British Columbia, came under attack on Thursday night, as multiple gunshots were fired at the establishment. The incident, currently under police investigation, has reportedly been linked to a Khalistani separatist, though authorities say the inquiry is still in its early stages.

In response to the shocking incident, Kap’s Cafe issued a heartfelt statement on Instagram, expressing grief and resilience.

“We opened Kap’s Cafe with hopes of bringing warmth, community, and joy through delicious coffee and friendly conversation. To have violence intersect with that dream is heartbreaking. We are processing this shock but we are not giving up.”

The statement continued with a message of gratitude and unity:

“Your kind words, prayers, and memories shared via DM mean more than you know. This cafe exists because of your belief in what we're building together. Let's stand firm against violence and ensure Kap's Cafe remains a place of warmth and community.”

The shooting occurred at approximately 1:50 am local time, shortly after the café’s opening earlier in the week. About 10 bullet holes were found in the front window, and some staff members were inside at the time, though fortunately, no injuries were reported.

According to NDTV, a Khalistani separatist may be behind the attack, but Surrey Police Spokesperson Staff Sgt. Lindsey Houghton stated that the motive remains unclear:

“Connections to other incidents and potential motives are being examined. Once that's done, we'll have a better idea of what happened.”

Despite the violent incident, Kapil Sharma’s team has affirmed their commitment to the café’s mission of building community, urging supporters to “stand firm against violence” and promising to return stronger under “better skies.”
