DTU Unveils Major Reforms in Research, Global Ties & Digital Learning; Hikes Fees for 2025-26
New Delhi: Delhi Technological University (DTU) has announced a sweeping transformation plan to enhance research, promote digital literacy, and deepen international partnerships, as shared by Vice-Chancellor Prateek Sharma during a press conference on Wednesday. The announcement comes alongside news of a fee hike for the 2025–26 academic session across major courses.
Key Initiatives Announced:
🚀 Research & Innovation Boost
A Research Park is being established at DTU’s Narela campus to drive innovation and strengthen ties between academia and industry.
A state-of-the-art laboratory has been launched to support joint R&D with corporate partners.
🌐 Global Collaborations
DTU has signed MoUs with:
University of Houston, USA – for student exchange.
South Asian University (SAU) – to promote academic cooperation within the region.
💻 Digital Inclusion
Launched a computer literacy campaign in five villages to bridge the digital divide.
Expanded its online learning platform to include certificate courses, ranging from 1-week crash modules to longer programs.
📘 Academic Expansion Under NEP 2020
Introduced three new B.Tech programmes in:
Semiconductors
Artificial Intelligence
Data Analytics
Established a new interdisciplinary department for Geospatial Science and Technology.
🌱 Environmental & Public Safety Contributions
Partnering with the Delhi Government on the Yamuna clean-up project and flood mitigation at ITO.
Proposed a role in Delhi’s air pollution control to the Lieutenant Governor.
Collaborating with the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways to create a road tunnel safety evaluation centre for tunnels over 1.5 km long.
📈 Fee Hike for 2025–26
DTU confirmed an increase in tuition fees across various major courses for the upcoming academic session. Details are expected to be released shortly on the university’s official portal.
🎓 Inclusive Education Focus
“We’re dismantling entry barriers to quality education,” said Sharma, referring to open-access online courses and industry-aligned curriculum reforms.
