Ross Duffer Denies Leaked ‘Stranger Things 5’ Episode Runtimes

After the much-anticipated teaser for Stranger Things Season 5 was released earlier this week, a supposed leak began circulating online, claiming to reveal the episode lengths for the final season. The viral screenshot showed every episode running close to or over two hours, with the finale allegedly stretching to three hours—making each installment nearly the length of a full movie.
However, series co-creator Ross Duffer quickly debunked the rumor. Taking to Instagram Stories, Duffer reposted the leaked image and dismissed it with a simple caption: “Lol not even close to accurate.” The image, labeled with a “Property of Netflix” watermark, had gained traction on social media before Duffer stepped in to set the record straight.
While director Shawn Levy previously hinted that some episodes could be feature-length, no official confirmation about specific runtimes has been shared. The first four episodes of Season 5 are confirmed to drop on Netflix on November 26.
Ross and Matt Duffer, the creators behind the hit Netflix series, have been cautious about spoilers as they wrap up the epic story. Addressing fans after the teaser release on July 16, Ross Duffer reassured audiences: “Don’t worry about spoilers — this teaser pulls from every episode except 7, but it’s mostly Volume One and just barely scratches the surface.”
As Stranger Things prepares to close out its saga, the Duffer brothers are clearly making sure to keep the suspense intact until the very end.
