Acclaimed filmmaker Jeethu Joseph has issued a stern warning to the makers of the Hindi version of Drishyam 3, cautioning them against moving forward with the project before the Malayalam original featuring Mohanlal is completed. Joseph, the creator of the Drishyam franchise, expressed concern over the reports suggesting that the Bollywood adaptation, starring Ajay Devgn, is already being planned ahead of the original’s development.

In an interview, Jeethu emphasized that any attempt to begin the Hindi version prematurely could not only compromise the integrity of the narrative but also lead to potential legal consequences. “If anyone tries to make the film before the original version is ready, it might be dealt with legally,” Joseph said, firmly asserting his ownership over the story.

Jeethu Joseph directed both the original Drishyam (2013) and Drishyam 2 (2021), both of which received widespread critical acclaim and were successfully remade in multiple languages. The franchise, known for its tightly woven suspense and emotionally gripping storyline, revolves around a family’s desperate efforts to protect their secrets after a crime.

The Malayalam version of Drishyam 3, starring superstar Mohanlal, is currently in the works, with Jeethu confirming that the scripting process is ongoing. However, with no official announcement on its shooting schedule yet, the director is taking a firm stand to ensure that the sanctity of the story is preserved before it is reimagined in other languages.

Meanwhile, the Hindi adaptations starring Ajay Devgn, Tabu, and Shriya Saran have also earned massive success, with Drishyam 2 (2022) emerging as a box office hit. However, Jeethu's recent comments have made it clear that the third installment should not proceed independently without the original version's release.

This move is seen by many as Jeethu Joseph's way of maintaining creative control over his cinematic universe and ensuring the story unfolds in the intended sequence. Fans of the Drishyam series across languages will now have to wait patiently for Mohanlal’s return before Ajay Devgn reprises his role once more.
