DRI seizes 7 kg cocaine worth ₹14.69 crore in Bengaluru; two women arrested

In a major anti-narcotics operation, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) on Monday seized seven kilograms of cocaine valued at ₹14.69 crore in Bengaluru. The contraband was found hidden inside soap boxes.

Two women, identified as Laljamluvai from Manipur and Lalthangliani from Mizoram, were arrested near the Cottonpet area in connection with the case. A preliminary investigation revealed that the smuggling attempt was part of a high-level interstate narcotics network.

The seizure comes just days after another DRI operation at Bengaluru International Airport, where an Indian male passenger was caught with over four kilograms of cocaine concealed inside magazine covers. The estimated value of that consignment was ₹40 crore, according to a statement from the Union Finance Ministry.

In a separate but related incident, the DRI intercepted a 33-year-old passenger who had arrived from Dubai on March 3. He was found carrying 14.2 kilograms of foreign-origin gold bars, with an estimated value of ₹12.56 crore.

Authorities said these recent seizures point to a rising trend in sophisticated smuggling operations and highlight the need for continued vigilance and coordinated enforcement action. Further investigations are underway in all three cases.
