Parliament Monsoon Session Day 4: Both Houses adjourned amid protests

On Thursday, July 24, 2025, both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha were unable to conduct any proceedings as Opposition protests disrupted the fourth day of the Parliament’s Monsoon Session. Earlier in the day, the Rajya Sabha bid farewell to members whose terms had ended.
Opposition MPs vocally opposed the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar, chanting slogans like “Take back SIR” and demanding a rollback. The Lok Sabha was adjourned within minutes of reconvening due to the continued uproar, mirroring the disruptions seen over the past three days of the session.
Apart from the SIR issue, the Opposition has also called for discussions on the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam and the government-led Operation Sindoor. While debates on these matters remain pending, Operation Sindoor may soon see closure, as The Hindu reports that the Rajya Sabha’s Business Advisory Committee has agreed to a 16-hour discussion next week—consistent with the decision taken in the Lok Sabha.
