Truck Rams 20 Cars After Losing Control on Mumbai-Pune Expressway

A major accident occurred on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway near Khopoli in Raigad district after a container truck, allegedly suffering brake failure, lost control and rammed into multiple vehicles, resulting in a massive pile-up.

The incident took place on the Mumbai-bound lane, between the new tunnel and Food Mall hotel stretch, under the jurisdiction of Khopoli police station. At least 20 vehicles, including several luxury cars such as BMW and Mercedes, were damaged in the crash.

Emergency services rushed to the site, and 19 people were injured and admitted to a private hospital in Navi Mumbai. Fortunately, no fatalities have been reported so far.

The truck driver has been taken into custody, and medical tests confirmed he was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs. A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway.
