Gold, Silver Prices in Major Indian Cities on July 2: Precious Metals Remain in Focus Amid Global Volatility
Gold and silver prices continue to draw attention as global uncertainties push investors toward safer asset classes. Over the past week, gold has gained momentum due to several international developments, reinforcing its status as a preferred hedge against market turbulence. Experts remain divided over its future trajectory, but the consensus remains: gold and silver are reliable options for risk-averse investors aiming to protect their portfolios.
Gold’s Impressive Two-Decade Run
Between 2005 and 2025, gold prices have surged by over 1,200%, rising from ₹7,638 per 10 grams to above ₹1,00,000 (as of June 2025). The yellow metal has delivered positive returns in 16 of the last 20 years. In 2025 so far, gold has already risen by 31% YTD, hitting new record highs and ranking among the best-performing assets this year.
Silver has also displayed strong resilience, maintaining a level above ₹1 lakh/kg for the past three weeks. In the same 20-year span, silver has grown by an impressive 668.84%.
Gold & Silver Prices Today – July 2
According to the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), gold was trading at ₹97,322/10 gm at 10:35 am on July 2, while silver stood at ₹1,05,837/kg. The Indian Bullion Association (IBA) listed 24-carat gold at ₹97,600/10 gm, and 22-carat gold at ₹89,467/10 gm. Silver (999 fine) was priced at ₹1,06,670/kg.
