PM Modi Arrives in Argentina for Historic Two-Day Bilateral Visit

Buenos Aires, July 5 (PTI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi has arrived in Argentina for a significant two-day visit, aimed at strengthening bilateral relations with the South American nation. Upon his arrival at Ezeiza International Airport on Friday evening (local time), PM Modi was welcomed with ceremonial honours.

Taking to social media platform X, the Prime Minister posted:

“Landed in Buenos Aires for a bilateral visit which will focus on augmenting relations with Argentina. I’m eager to meet President Javier Milei and hold detailed talks.”

This marks the first Indian prime ministerial bilateral visit to Argentina in 57 years. Modi’s previous visit to the country was in 2018 for the G20 Summit, making this his second visit as PM.

🇮🇳 Warm Reception and Community Interaction

On arriving at his hotel, PM Modi was greeted with enthusiastic chants of "Modi, Modi" and "Bharat Mata Ki Jai" by members of the Indian diaspora in Argentina. A cultural dance performance was also organized to welcome him.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) posted on X:

“Celebrating the enduring friendship between our nations… This is the first bilateral visit by an Indian PM to Argentina in 57 years, marking a new chapter in India-Argentina ties.”

🛡️ Key Talks and Focus Areas

PM Modi will hold wide-ranging discussions with President Javier Milei to deepen cooperation in critical sectors such as:

Defence

Agriculture

Mining and Critical Minerals

Oil & Gas

Renewable Energy

Trade & Investment

The MEA stated:

“The bilateral visit of the prime minister will further deepen the multifaceted strategic partnership between India and Argentina.”

Modi described Argentina as a key economic partner in Latin America and a close collaborator in multilateral platforms like the G20.

🌍 Multi-Nation Tour Continues

This is the third stop on PM Modi’s ongoing five-nation tour. He arrived in Argentina after a two-day visit to Trinidad and Tobago, where he was conferred with The Order of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, the country's highest civilian honour — becoming the first foreign leader to receive it.

From Argentina, PM Modi will proceed to:

Brazil: For the 17th BRICS Summit and a state visit

Namibia: The final leg of his tour

The visit is being seen as part of India’s broader diplomatic push to enhance global strategic ties and strengthen cooperation with Latin American and African nations.
