India holds the record for the most individual double hundreds in Test and ODIs combined. In this article, we will talk about Batters with Double Centuries in Test and ODI Cricket.

Batters with Double Centuries in Test and ODI Cricket

Shubman Gill

Shubman Gill is the fifth batter in the history of the game to score a double century in both ODI and Test match cricket.

The Indian Test captain scored his maiden Test double ton against England at Edgbaston in the second Test of the five-match series.

Gill's only ODI double century so far came in the ODI series against New Zealand in 2023.

Chris Gayle

Former West Indies batter Chris Gayle, although known for his heroics in T20 cricket, has also scored double centuries in both Test and ODI cricket.

Gayle ended up scoring three double-hundreds in Tests and one in ODIs. The ODI double hundred in question came during the 2015 ODI World Cup in a group match against Zimbabwe played in Australia.

Gayle's highest score in Test cricket happens to be 333, which came against Sri Lanka in the first Test of the three-match series in 2010.

Gayle is only the second batter to have a score of 200 in ODI and 300 in Test after Virender Sehwag, who scored two triple centuries in Tests.

To add to that, Gayle is the only batter to have at least one Test triple hundred, ODI double hundred, and one T20I century to his name.

Rohit Sharma

The only batter to have three ODI double hundreds under his belt, Rohit Sharma, the former Indian captain, also finds his name in the list of batters with double centuries in both Test and ODIs

Rohit scored his first ODI double hundred against Australia in Bengaluru in the final game of the seven-match series in 2013 and followed it up with the highest individual score in ODI cricket, 264 against Sri Lanka a year later.

Rohit scored his only double hundred (212) in Test cricket against South Africa in his first series as an opener in the longest format of the game, which is also his highest score in this format.

Virender Sehwag

Virender Sehwag was the second player to score an ODI double hundred after Sachin Tendulkar also has six double hundreds in Test cricket registered to his name.

The ODI double hundred came in the five-match ODI series against the West Indies in 2011. Interestingly, Sehwag was the captain of the team in that series.

Sehwag was the first batter to score at least one double hundred in an ODI and a triple hundred in a Test match.

Sachin Tendulkar

The only player to score 100 hundreds in international cricket, Sachin Tendulkar, was the first player to score an ODI 200. The little master got to this milestone against South Africa in 2010.

Tendulkar also scored six double hundreds in Test cricket during his time as an international cricketer, with the highest score of 248 against Bangladesh in 2004.
