Rio de Janeiro [Brazil], July 7: Indian Ambassador to Brazil, Dinesh Bhatia, announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will sign four key Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with Brazil during his official visit on July 8.

Addressing a special media briefing by the Ministry of External Affairs, Bhatia highlighted that this marks the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Brazil in 57 years. "During this state visit, PM Modi will receive a ceremonial welcome, followed by high-level bilateral talks between the two delegations. We expect to sign four MoUs covering renewable energy, counterterrorism, agricultural research cooperation between India’s ICAR and Brazil’s Embrapa, and the exchange of confidential information," he stated.

The visit is being undertaken at the invitation of Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva. PM Modi will arrive in Brasilia on July 7 and will be treated as a state guest.

Earlier in the day, PM Modi addressed the BRICS Summit Plenary session on ‘Strengthening Multilateralism, Economic-Financial Affairs, and Artificial Intelligence’. In a post on X, he wrote:

"Addressed the BRICS Summit Plenary session on 'Strengthening Multilateralism, Economic-Financial Affairs, and Artificial Intelligence.' Focused on how to make the BRICS platform even more effective in this increasingly multipolar world."

In a significant development, BRICS leaders also welcomed India’s bid to host the 33rd UN Climate Change Conference (COP33) in 2028.
