Elon Musk accuses Apple of bias, threatens App Store lawsuit

Elon Musk has accused Apple of favoring OpenAI by preventing other AI apps from reaching the top spot on the App Store. He claims this behavior is an antitrust violation and announced plans for immediate legal action. Musk stated that Apple’s methods make it impossible for any AI company besides OpenAI to secure the number one ranking. He also pointed out that Apple uses ChatGPT to power features like Siri, its writing tools, and visual intelligence functions.
The rivalry between Musk and OpenAI is long-standing. Musk was once a co-founder of OpenAI but has become one of its fiercest critics. He has sued OpenAI and Microsoft, alleging breach of contract, and argues that OpenAI’s original mission to develop artificial general intelligence for humanity’s benefit has shifted to a for-profit model.
