MUMBAI/NEW DELHI: An Air India flight (AI645) from Mumbai to Jodhpur with 110 passengers aborted take-off on Friday after the cockpit crew detected an operational issue at the last moment. The Airbus A319, scheduled to depart at 9:15 am, was brought back to the bay, causing a 3.5-hour delay before passengers boarded an alternative aircraft that left at 12:36 pm.
Air India issued a statement saying the crew followed standard operating procedures and assured that ground staff assisted flyers immediately. This marks the third aborted take-off for Air India this week—earlier flights from Delhi to Leh and Mumbai to Ahmedabad also faced disruptions due to technical and maintenance issues.
Meanwhile, an incoming Zurich-Delhi Air India flight was cancelled midweek over a technical snag.
Separately, India extended airspace closure for Pakistan-registered aircraft until September 24, marking the fifth such extension since the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack. Pakistan had announced a similar extension a day earlier.
