Meals high in glucose can cause blood sugar levels to surge sharply, making it difficult for the body to return to normal. Despite the fact that many individuals automatically sit down or unwind after eating, this behavior can actually make the issue worse. Even small daily tasks that involve some physical activity can have a big impact on reducing these surges and promoting better glucose regulation.

French biologist, New York Times bestselling author, and health advocate Jessie Inchauspé—also referred to on social media as the "Glucose Goddess"—explains why it's important to move after meals high in glucose to counteract blood sugar rises. She discusses the effects of physical activity on blood glucose levels in an October 2 Instagram video, suggesting easy activities, such as routine housework, that can help reduce insulin and blood glucose levels.

Jesse claims that movement causes your muscles to contract, which speeds up the absorption of glucose. “Your muscles will absorb the glucose from that meal without requiring insulin when your muscles contract, for example, when you're walking, squatting, or cleaning your apartment,” she elaborates. She emphasizes that in order to avoid surges, it's critical to maintain low insulin levels. "Therefore, just ten minutes of exercise after eating can help you lower your blood sugar spike without raising your insulin levels, which is two birds with one stone," Jesse continues.
