A doctor in the Chhindwara region of Madhya Pradesh has reportedly been arrested by authorities after 11 children died from ingesting tainted cough medicine. Praveen Soni has been recognized as the physician. He is accused of prescribing Coldrif syrup to a number of children, the majority of whom received treatment at his Parasia clinic.

Due to the potential contamination, police have also filed a complaint against the pharmaceutical business based in Tamil Nadu that produced the syrup. Sresan Pharmaceuticals, a medication manufacturer based in Tamil Nadu, and a local pediatrician were the targets of a formal complaint filed by Madhya Pradesh police early on Sunday at the Parasia police station in the Chhindwara district.

According to the complaint, the cough medication, which laboratory tests later revealed included diethylene glycol (DEG), a toxic substance frequently found in brake fluids and antifreeze, caused the deaths of multiple children under the age of five. Sheelendra Singh, the district collector for Chhindwara, referenced biopsy data showing that the affected children's kidney tissue examination indicated DEG contamination in the cough syrup they had taken.
