There are now pressing concerns over drug safety and quality control in India as a result of the recent cough syrup incident in Madhya Pradesh. According to reports, up to 17 kids in the Chhindwara district of Madhya Pradesh have passed away as a result of ingesting tainted cough medicine that included the hazardous industrial chemical diethylene glycol.
Many states have banned the sale of Coldrif cough syrup as a result of the incident, which also led to the arrest of the doctor who recommended it and the creation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT). Numerous children allegedly displayed symptoms that were more indicative of poisoning than illness, including vomiting, decreased urination, and kidney failure.
Dr. Neelam Mohan, the Director of Paediatric Gastroenterology at Medanta - The Medicity, Gurugram, and a child health advocate, talked about the true cause of the deaths. The pediatrician lists eight crucial rules that all parents should adhere to when giving their kids cough syrup in an Instagram video that was shared on October 7.
