CBI Report on Sushant Singh Rajput Case

The Central Bureau of Investigation’s closure report into actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s death clears Rhea Chakraborty and members of her family of criminal wrongdoing, but Sushant’s relatives say the report is incomplete and plan to challenge it in court. According to the CBI, investigators found no evidence that Rhea or her family illegally confined Sushant, threatened him, abetted his suicide, or misappropriated his funds. The agency reviewed digital records, witness statements and transaction trails and concluded Sushant had taken his own life.

Key details in the report: Rhea and her brother Showik left Sushant’s Bandra flat on June 8 and had no recorded contact with him between June 8 and June 14. Sushant reportedly told his flatmate that Rhea was “part of the family,” and the CBI found no proof of dishonest transfer of property or inducement. The agency also said there was no recorded evidence of threats from Rhea to make Sushant’s medical records public beyond hearsay.

On financial allegations, the CBI noted that Sushant’s accountant and lawyer had oversight of his accounts and that trips and gifts allegedly linked to Rhea were either on Sushant’s instruction or gifts she had received. The closure report therefore rules out theft or embezzlement by the accused. Sushant’s family lawyer dismissed the findings as “shoddy,” arguing supporting documents such as bank statements, chat logs and technical records should have been filed with the report.
