Election Commission asks Jan Suraaj chief Prashant Kishor to explain why he is registered as a voter in both Bihar and West Bengal; reply due within three days.

Election Commission Issues Notice to Prashant Kishor
The Election Commission of India has issued a formal notice to Jan Suraaj Party founder Prashant Kishor after reports showed his name enlisted on electoral rolls in both Bihar and West Bengal, a breach of the Representation of the People Act that forbids dual voter registration. The ECI has asked Kishor to clarify the matter within three days, highlighting the legal requirement that a person cannot be enrolled in more than one constituency.
According to reporting cited by the poll panel, Kishor appears on voter lists at two Kolkata addresses — 121 Kalighat Road, the Trinamool Congress office in Bhabanipur, and Nirmal Hriday School, Beadon Street — while his Bihar entry is listed in 209–Karahgar Assembly Constituency (Part No. 767, Serial No. 621) with voter ID IUJ1323718.
The notice comes at a politically sensitive time: Kishor’s Jan Suraaj Party is active in the Bihar assembly polls and the revelation could prompt scrutiny about electoral-roll accuracy and political conduct. Election-law experts say dual enrolment cases are usually clerical or procedural errors but can have larger political implications when prominent strategists or candidates are involved.
