BCCI Announces Record ₹51 Crore Reward for World Cup-Winning Squad

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a cash reward of INR 51 crore for India’s women’s team after the Harmanpreet Kaur-led side lifted their maiden ICC Women’s World Cup title at Dr DY Patil Stadium. The BCCI’s payment is higher than the ICC winners’ purse, underscoring the board’s decision to recognise the historic achievement on home soil.

India beat South Africa by 52 runs in the final, a match defined by strong top-order batting and a match-winning bowling display that included Deepti Sharma’s five-wicket haul. The 298 total posted by India, powered by Shafali Verma’s 87, set the platform for the victory and the trophy presentation that followed.

BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia told ANI that the board wanted to reward the players, selectors and support staff — without touching the ICC allocation — for their outstanding performance in a tough eight-team tournament. He also acknowledged the recent increase in ICC prize money..
